I have recently realized that I have been more and more depended on the energy/protein bars due to partly my bad eating habits and mostly my wrong perception of what they are really for. The moment of this realization made me do what a conscious consumer would do in search of professional help. I googled them and decided to depend on other clueless consumers’ theories. Joking aside, I found very valuable information about energy and protein bars. I found out that they are not replacements for natural food groups. Right… As I feel like I lack the simplest knowledge even to judge what I read is accurate or not, I will just go ahead and write a few comments that I think can’t be wrong and suggest a few brands which I as well as some of the other folks out there find testier then the others.
Energy bars are to replace snacks, apples, bananas and other fruits. If you will have them as meal replacement, try to have it together some real food. A cup of yogurt or an apple would do. Also try to find a bar that is rich in protein. (10 – 15 grams)
Don’t forget to drink plenty of water while consuming these bars. They are very low in water in order to be compact.
